Open the tin of chickpeas and drain. Pour the chickpeas into a sieve and wash well under warm water. Drain again then pour the chickpeas onto a clean tea towel. Fold the tea towel over the chickpeas and gently rub them with the towel to remove the skins.
Pour skinned chickpeas into a blender and puree. For younger babies, this plain chickpea puree can be thinned with a little boiled water and offered just as it is.
As your baby gets older, add flavour to the houmous by adding olive oil, lemon juice and/or garlic puree before blending.
