What you need

Ingredients

1/2 tbsp. olive oil
1 small onion (finely diced)
2 cloves of garlic (crushed)
2 carrots (finely diced)
2 celery sticks (finely diced)
120g dried red lentils
400g tinned chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp. tomato puree
500ml vegetable stock (no salt)
2 tsp. of fresh herbs or dried oregano
Thyme and basil (finely chopped)
1 handful of fresh spinach (washed)
5 mini rainbow cherry tomatoes quartered
100g of mini baby friendly pasta shapes

The perfect weaning recipe for baby’s first spaghetti bolognese. Simple to make but packed full of nutritious ingredients, you’ll love it as much as baby!

Method

Heat the oil in a large pan. Add chopped onion, crushed garlic along with carrots and celery. Lightly fry for around 5 minutes until soft and golden

Add lentils, tinned tomatoes, tomato puree and vegetable stock, stir the baby spaghetti bolognese well then add fresh herbs. Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes.

Add spinach leaves along with mini tomatoes, and simmer for a further 5 minutes. Also start to cook pasta according to instructions.

Remove both from hob, drain pasta. Serve the baby spaghetti bolognese on your little one's favourite plate or bowl and top with some fresh basil or Parmesan and enjoy!
